EDUCATORS - LEADING STUDENTS INTO THE FUTURE!

As educators, you are on the forefront of helping students prepare for their futures. When you stress the importance or rigorous course work for ALL students, regardless of their current post-high-school plans, you help your students get on track for a successful future. We need you to send the message to students that a passing grade in a difficult course is more valuable than an “A” in an easy course.

What is my role in Louisiana Scholars as a teacher? Eighth-grade teachers can support business volunteers who give a presentation to the students on why it is so important to take rigorous courses in high school two weeks before students complete their high school scheduling plan. Teachers can also assist the program by passing out informational materials to students and by talking to parents and community leaders about Louisiana Scholars.

What is my role in Louisiana Scholars as a counselor? Middle and high school counselors can assist Louisiana Scholars by encouraging students to sign the student contract to become a Louisiana Scholars, by providing information to students and parents, and by keeping a record of those students who do sign up for the program.

What is my role in Louisiana Scholars as a principal/administrator? School principals, district superintendents and other administrators are key figures in organizing and implementing the initiative in the school district with the help from the local and state business partners and Louisiana Scholars staff. They will also assist with the collection of data.
