WHY BECOME A LOUISIANA SCHOLAR?

Louisiana Scholars helps you, the student, make the most of your high school years by providing the academic foundation you will need to succeed in college and the workforce. Further, you are putting yourself in a position to earn a college degree and make more money. In fact, on average, a college graduate can make one million dollars more in their lifetime than those with only a high school education.

Good jobs require education beyond high school. That means if you want a job that will support you and your future families, provide health benefits, and offer a chance for advancement, you need to complete a 2 or 4-year degree, apprenticeship program, military training, or workforce certification. If you are planning to go directly to work after high school graduation, you will still need to be prepared for training and retooling throughout your lifetimes. Louisiana Scholars gives you more options - and more opportunities - to find a career with a real future.

Graduating as a Louisiana Scholar means you will:

  • Acquire advanced academic skills
  • Develop sound decision-making and critical-thinking skills
  • Be more prepared for college and less likely to need remedial courses
  • Be a stronger candidate for certain scholarships and financial aid
  • Have enhanced opportunities for future employment
